Another day, and a chance to seek out a few more beasts lurking in the urban jungle. The first one, an indoor variety, no doubt to keep the light-fingered from lifting all the Swarovski crystals and pearls when no-one is looking. This one is by SHO Fine Jewellery. For those who like their elephants with bling.
and yet another outside the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. This one is by Eitan Portnoy and sponsored by the Duchess of York. I wonder if it will end up in a palace?
A close up of the Lion King Elephant in Covent Garden, a close up of the artwork. Quite amazing, I wonder how long they took to do?
Moving on to Leicester Square Gardens, four guardians of the park, and one of them has two sides that are different.
and the other side
I couldn’t help but be reminded of the classic Blue Peter clip of Lulu the baby elephant when I first saw these charming statues. I can’t imagine that there is anyone who hasn’t seen this, but here’s the clip in case you want to see it again.
There is also a line in Oh What a Beautiful Morning from Oklahoma! about the corn being as high as an elephant’s eye, and here’s an elephant’s eye, pretty high up.
