Princes Park hosted a charity match to raise funds for Demelza Hospice for Sick Children on 8 May. Kingsdale are a Sunday league side who play in Bexley and the Charlton Athletic Legends (also known as the Vets) consist of players from the 1990s era. May be I have an odd sense of humour, but I couldn’t help but smile at the idea of “legends” = “leg-ends” = “foot” = “boot”. Geddit? Perhaps that was unintentional. I enjoyed the event, took some shots of the match. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had imagined that it would demonstrate that age and experience triumphs over youth and enthusiasm, but there wasn’t much to choose between them. Everyone seemed to have great time and they raised about £300 for the charity. Hopefully this will become an annual event.
I don’t know if you recognise any of the veteran players.
Nice that so many people turn out for good causes.
