Couldn’t travel with the club to Barrow-in-Furness for another a way match, this time against Barrow AFC – affectionately nicknamed the ‘bluebirds’. A nice long drive up the M6 and onto the A590 through the Lake District for an overnight stop.
Then on the approach to Barrow be sure to wind the windows up, ‘cos you know you’re there when you see the locals smacking each other across the face with radioactive Kippers, allegedly. Driving just out of town in the dark and looking north you can usually see the glow in the sky coming from the areas around Sellafield at Calder Bridge on the way to Whitehaven. I’m told Barrow’s club song is “here we glow, here we glow”.
The match ended 0:0 and Dartford drop a place in the League Table to 6th. It’ll be a long drive back home tonight.
